SIG P385 Models Explained: Lines, Specs and Differences

SIG P385 models explained: SIG's published size, barrel, weight and magazine figures for the Carry, Full, Comp, Compact and MACH3D, and where SIG's own pages disagree.

By Firearms Almanac

SIG SAUER introduced the P385, a new striker-fired pistol, at its SIG NEXT event (press release, September 22, 2026). Every version in SIG's spec tables is chambered in 9mm Luger (Carry, Full, Comp, Compact (table in page code; see note below), MACH3D (table in page code; see note below)). SIG lists five P385 lines: the P385-MACH3D, P385-COMP, P385-FULL, P385-CARRY and P385-COMPACT (SIG on X; press release). This note sets out the figures SIG has published for each line, how the lines compare, and where SIG's own pages disagree with each other.

As of October 31, 2026, SIG's product page for every P385 line reads "COMING SOON!" (Carry, Full, Comp, Compact, MACH3D). SIG's press release says the P385 "will be available in stores this fall and early winter" (press release). Several of SIG's P385 spec tables disagree with SIG's own product descriptions. We point out each conflict below and will update this note when SIG corrects its pages.

What is the SIG P385?

SIG says the P385 "was developed from the ground up" (press release). Its product pages describe "an all-new modular Fire Control Unit, developed specifically for the P385 platform and featuring a patent pending Trigger Block design that provides a redundant drop safety mechanism while maintaining a flush trigger face" (P385-Carry page).

SIG's spec tables for the Carry, Full, Comp and MACH3D all list the following (Carry, Full, Comp, MACH3D (table in page code; see note below)):

  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Trigger action: Striker
  • Trigger type: Flat w/Trigger Block
  • Slide material and frame material: Stainless Steel
  • Barrel material: Carbon Steel; threaded barrel: No
  • Grip module: Polymer w/MagStrap Component
  • Accessory rail: M1913
  • Optic ready: Yes, with an RX footprint of SIG-LOC PRO
  • Sights: every version's sights entry includes XRAY3 Day/Night Sights

The Compact's spec table (in page code; see note below) is different. It lists the trigger type as "Flat Striker Fired" and the grip module as "XMACRO Polymer," and it gives an FCU material (Stainless Steel) where the other tables give a frame material. The Compact's own description, though, mentions the "patent pending Trigger Block design" and "a compact interchangeable MagStrap component grip module" (P385-Compact page).

SIG's product pages say the P385 is "Compatible with SIG SAUER P320 magazines" (the Comp page reads "Compatible with SIG P320 magazines"). They also say the "SIG Recoil Dampening System (SRDS) integrated into the grip module reduces shock transferred to the shooter" (Carry, Compact, Comp). SIG's SIG NEXT brochure says "the P385 also uses the combat proven standard P320 magazine for extreme reliability."

The P385 operator's manual states: "SIG SAUER OFFERS THE P385 WITH AND WITHOUT A MANUAL SAFETY." It also says "Some models feature a magazine disconnect mechanism," which prevents "the trigger from being pressed to the rear unless a magazine is inserted," and "Some models feature a loaded chamber indicator which provides a visual and tactile indication that there is a live round in the chamber." State laws vary; see our state law guides.

How do the SIG P385 models compare?

These figures come from SIG's spec tables for each line's standard version, checked October 30 and 31, 2026. SIG's Compact and MACH3D pages include a style rule that hides their spec tables, so the figures are in each page's code but may not display on the page (as of October 30, 2026). The Full's table was hidden the same way in a September 27, 2026 capture but displays on SIG's current page (as of October 30, 2026). Archived copies from September 27, 2026: Full, Compact, MACH3D; differences from the current tables are noted below. Height and weight for the factory red-dot versions are in parentheses. Where SIG's table and SIG's own description disagree, both are shown.

  • P385-Carry (SIG): pistol size "Carry"; barrel 4 in; overall length 7.22 in; width 1.32 in; height 5.64 in (6.42 in); weight 28.94 oz w/Magazine (29.12 oz w/Magazine); magazines "(1) 17rd and (1) 21rd or (2) 10rd steel magazines"
  • P385-Full (SIG; a September 27, 2026 capture listed 7.2 in overall length on the standard row): pistol size "Full-Size"; barrel 4.7 in; overall length 7.92 in; width 1.32 in; height 5.64 in (6.42 in); weight 29.6 oz W/Magazine (30.08 oz W/Magazine); magazines (1) 17rd / (1) 21rd Steel Mag, or (2) 10rd Steel Mag on the 10-round version
  • P385-Comp (SIG): pistol size "Compact"; barrel 4 in; overall length 7.9 in; width 1.32 in; height 5.64 in (6.42 in); weight 29.12 oz w/Magazine (30.4 oz w/Magazine); magazines "(1) 17rd and (2) 21rd or (3) 10rd steel magazines"
  • P385-Compact (SIG (table in page code; see note above)): pistol size "Compact"; barrel 3.7 in in SIG's table, but "4" precision barrel" in SIG's description; overall length 6.6 in; width 1.1 in; height 5.2 in; weight 22 oz (the table doesn't say whether that includes a magazine); magazines (2) 17rd Steel Mag in SIG's table, but "(2) 15rd magazines" in SIG's key features
  • P385-MACH3D (SIG (table in page code; see note above)): pistol size "Full-Size"; barrel 3.9 in in SIG's table, but "4" precision barrel" in SIG's description; overall length 7.87 in; width 1.45 in; height 5.64 in; weight 30.56 oz w/Magazine; magazines "(1) 17rd magazine & (2) 21rd magazines," or (3) 10rd Steel Mag on the 10-round version (SIG's table lists the Coyote version differently; see below). As of October 30, 2026, SIG's red-dot row (385F-9-M3D-RXSL) lists an overall length of 5.62 in, height of 6.42 in and weight of 54 oz w/Magazine, which differ from the 7.87 in and 30.56 oz on every other MACH3D row (a September 27, 2026 capture lists the same figures); see below.

Holsters

SIG hasn't said whether holsters fit across P385 lines. Its operator's manual says to carry the pistol "in a holster specifically designed for that pistol" and that "it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure the holster is compatible with their specific pistol and any installed accessories" (operator's manual). Lines with the same listed barrel length differ in size: the Carry and Comp both list a 4 in barrel, but SIG lists the Carry at 7.22 in long and the Comp at 7.9 in (Carry, Comp).

P385-Carry

SIG's P385-Carry page says the Carry "delivers a softer, flatter shooting experience with greater control and faster sight recovery." Its table lists a 4 in barrel, 7.22 in overall length, 1.32 in width, 5.64 in height, 5.85 in sight radius and 28.94 oz w/Magazine. SIG's table has five versions:

  • 385CA-9-BXR3: Nitron® finish, Black grip, (1) 17rd / (1) 21rd Steel Mag
  • 385CA-9-CXR3: Coyote Cerakote finish, Coyote grip, (1) 17rd / (1) 21rd Steel Mag
  • 385CA-9-BXR3-10: (2) 10rd Steel Mag
  • 385CA-9-BXR3-MS: manual safety "Yes," (1) 17rd / (1) 21rd Steel Mag
  • 385CA-9-BXR3-RXSL: sights "ROMEO-X SIG-LOC PRO with XRAY3 Day/Night Sights," height 6.42 in, weight 29.12 oz w/Magazine

P385-Full

SIG's P385-Full page says the Full "delivers a softer, flatter shooting experience with greater control." Its spec table lists a 4.7 in barrel, 7.92 in overall length, 1.32 in width, 5.64 in height, 6.55 in sight radius and 29.6 oz W/Magazine. A September 27, 2026 capture has the same figures in its code, except that its standard row listed 7.2 in overall length. That barrel and sight radius are the longest in SIG's five P385 tables (our comparison). SIG's table has five versions:

  • 385F-9-BXR3: Nitron® finish, (1) 17rd / (1) 21rd Steel Mag
  • 385F-9-CXR3: Coyote Cerakote finish, (1) 17rd / (1) 21rd Steel Mag
  • 385F-9-BXR3-10: (2) 10rd Steel Mag
  • 385F-9-BXR3-MS: manual safety "Yes"
  • 385F-9-BXR3-RXSL: sights "XRAY3 DAY/NIGHT SIGHTS | ROMEO-X SIG-LOC COMPACT | CIRCLE DOT," height 6.42 in, weight 30.08 oz W/Magazine. The same row lists the RX footprint as SIG-LOC PRO, while the optic it names is a ROMEO-X SIG-LOC COMPACT; SIG's table doesn't reconcile the two.

P385-Comp

SIG's P385-Comp page describes "an integrally compensated Nitron SIG-LOC PRO optic-ready slide" and says "the integrated compensator helps reduce muzzle rise and improve sight recovery for greater control during rapid fire." SIG's table lists the pistol size as "Compact," with a 4 in barrel, 7.9 in overall length, 1.32 in width, 5.64 in height, 5.87 in sight radius and 29.12 oz w/Magazine. SIG's table has five versions:

  • 385F-9-COMP: Nitron® finish, (1) 17rd / (2) 21rd Steel Mags
  • 385F-9-COMP-COY: Coyote Cerakote finish, Coyote grip, (1) 17rd / (2) 21rd Steel Mags, 29.12 oz w/Magazine
  • 385F-9-COMP-10: (3) 10rd Steel Mag, 29.12 oz w/Magazine
  • 385F-9-COMP-MS: manual safety "Yes"
  • 385F-9-COMP-RXSL: electro-optic installed "Yes," height 6.42 in, weight 30.4 oz w/Magazine. SIG's sights entry for this row reads "XRAY3 Day/Night Sights" and doesn't name the optic model.

P385-Compact

SIG's P385-Compact page (web address p385-comp.html; not the P385-Comp) says the Compact "delivers the performance, accuracy, and innovation of the P385 platform in its most compact configuration." SIG's spec table (in page code; see note above) lists:

  • Pistol size: Compact
  • Barrel length: 3.7 in
  • Overall length: 6.6 in
  • Overall width: 1.1 in
  • Height: 5.2 in
  • Weight: 22 oz (the table doesn't say whether that includes a magazine)
  • Sight radius: 5.6 in
  • Magazines: (2) 17rd Steel Mag

Where SIG contradicts itself on the Compact (as of October 31, 2026; as of October 30, 2026, SIG's table is in the page's code and may not display on the page; see note above):

  • Barrel: the table says 3.7 in. SIG's description says "4" precision barrel," and the SIG NEXT brochure says "4” PRECISION BARREL."
  • Magazines: the table lists "(2) 17rd Steel Mag" for every version. SIG's key features say "(2) 15rd magazines," and the brochure says "(2) 15 RD MAGAZINES."
  • 10-round version: the 385C-9-BXR3-10 row lists "(2) 17rd Steel Mag."
  • Manual safety version: the 385C-9-BXR3-MS row lists manual safety "No."
  • Red-dot version: the 385C-9-BXR3-RXSL row lists electro-optic installed "No" and sights "XRAY3 Day/Night Sights." SIG's model list calls this version "P385-COMPACT SIG-LOC PRO Optic Installed."
  • Coyote version: the 385C-9-CXR3 row lists a Nitron® finish and a Black grip. SIG's model list names "P385-COMPACT Coyote," and the page says "Available in Coyote Brown."
  • Trigger and grip: the table lists "Flat Striker Fired" and "XMACRO Polymer." SIG's description mentions the Trigger Block and a MagStrap grip module, and the brochure lists a "COMPACT (SHORTER) MAGSTRAP."
  • Lineup: as of October 30, 2026, SIG's table has five rows: 385C-9-BXR3, 385C-9-CXR3, 385C-9-BXR3-10, 385C-9-BXR3-MS and 385C-9-BXR3-RXSL. An earlier capture from September 27, 2026 and our saved copy from October 28 also showed 385C-9-BXR3-MS-10 (Massachusetts) and 385C-9-BXR3-CA (California).

Because many Compact entries conflict, we'll update this section when SIG corrects them.

P385-MACH3D

SIG calls the MACH3D "the highest-performance expression of the P385 platform" (P385-MACH3D page). The P385-Comp's compensator is part of its "integrally compensated" slide (P385-Comp page). The MACH3D uses SIG's MACH3D compensator instead. SIG uses that compensator on the P211-GTO (P211-GTO page) and lists it on the P365-MACH3D, which SIG's page marks "COMING SOON!" (P365-MACH3D page).

What SIG says about the MACH3D compensator

  • In its P211-GTO announcement, SIG calls it a "revolutionary, 3D-manufactured compensator." SIG's MACH3D glossary entry says it "uses advanced additive manufacturing to port gases with unrivaled efficiency."
  • On the P211-GTO page, SIG says it "uses a specialized gas flow design to dramatically reduce muzzle rise and felt recoil, allowing for faster, more accurate follow-up shots." We didn't find a SIG description of the port layout.
  • SIG's glossary entry (as of October 31, 2026) says the MACH3D technology creates a "neutral" return to zero. SIG doesn't define "neutral."

What SIG says about the P385-MACH3D

  • SIG says the P385-MACH3D "combines MACH3D compensation, SRDS, and an extremely low bore axis to dramatically reduce felt recoil and muzzle movement for maximum control and faster follow-up shots" (P385-MACH3D page, as of October 31, 2026).
  • SIG's description says "A MACH3D-equipped 4" precision barrel pairs with a Nitron SIG-LOC PRO optic-ready slide" (P385-MACH3D page). SIG's spec table (in page code; see note above) lists the barrel as 3.9 in.
  • As of October 30, 2026, SIG's spec table (in the page's code; may not display on the page; same figures in a September 27, 2026 capture) lists, for every row except the red-dot version: overall length 7.87 in, width 1.45 in, height 5.64 in, sight radius 5.65 in, weight 30.56 oz w/Magazine. SIG's red-dot row (385F-9-M3D-RXSL) lists 5.62 in overall length, 6.42 in height, 5.62 in sight radius and 54 oz w/Magazine (P385-MACH3D page). Those red-dot figures conflict with SIG's other MACH3D rows: by our arithmetic, the red-dot row is 2.25 in shorter and 23.44 oz heavier, and SIG hasn't explained the difference.
  • Manufacturing wording changed. In a September 27, 2026 capture, the P385-MACH3D page said the compensator "uses advanced additive manufacturing." As of October 30, 2026, it said "uses advanced manufacturing" (P385-MACH3D page); that sentence no longer appears on the page as of October 31, 2026.
  • Muzzle-rise figures differ. SIG has published several:
  • SIG NEXT brochure: "the P385 features the advanced MACH3D compensator, reducing muzzle rise by more than 30%"
  • P385 press release: "muzzle rise is reduced by 20 percent or more, depending on the specific P385 model"
  • P211-GTO page: "MACH3D compensator reduces muzzle rise by 30%"
  • MACH3D glossary and P365-MACH3D page: "up to 30%"
  • The P385-MACH3D page itself gives no figure.
  • SIG hasn't said how the compensator attaches on the P385, what it's made of, or whether it's the same part as the P211's.

The MACH3D compensator on the P211

SIG introduced the P211-GTO, part of its "double-stack 1911" P211 line, in a press release dated June 23, 2025. SIG hasn't said whether the P385's MACH3D compensator is the same part or design.

  • SIG's press release describes a "4.4” Bull Barrel paired with a precision-mounted Mach3D compensator" (GTO press release). The P211-GTO COMBAT page lists a "MACH3D Compensator attached to 4.4” Bull Barrel" (P211-GTO COMBAT page).
  • SIG sells a P211 9mm MACH3D Compensator separately: "Replace or upgrade your P211 with this factory MACH3D compensator." SIG lists it as "Compatible with the 4.4" bullnose barrel on the P211-GTO models," and the listing includes "(1) MACH3D Compensator (1) Compensator wedge pin (1) Compensator retention spring (1) Set screw." The same page says the compensator makes "the P211 the flattest-shooting double-stack system SIG SAUER has ever produced."
  • How long is it? SIG doesn't publish the compensator's length. SIG lists the P211-GTO with a "4.4 in Bull Barrel paired with MACH3D Compensator" and an overall length of 8.5 in (P211-GTO page). It lists the uncompensated P211-GT4 with a "4.0 in Bull Barrel with Target Crown" in its spec table, a "4.2” bull barrel" in its description, and an overall length of 7.75 in (P211-GT4 page). By our arithmetic, the GTO is 0.75 in longer overall. That difference isn't a clean measure of the compensator, because SIG lists the GT4's barrel two ways and describes the GT4 with a "Carry length" slide.
  • SIG's P365-MACH3D page lists a "Factory equipped MACH3D compensator attached to a 3.4” Bull Barrel" (P365-MACH3D page). We didn't find compensator dimensions for the P211, P365 or P385 versions on any SIG page.

P385-MACH3D versions

SIG's model list names six versions: P385-MACH3D, 10-Round, Manual Safety, Coyote, SIG-LOC PRO Optic installed, and XRAY5 Optic installed (P385-MACH3D page). As of October 30, 2026, SIG's spec table (in page code; see note above) has five SKU rows, and none of them is an XRAY5 version:

  • 385F-9-M3D: (1) 17rd / (2) 21rd Steel Mags
  • 385F-9-M3D-COY: Nitron® finish, Coyote grip. The table lists "(2) 17rd / (1) 21rd Steel Mags," which differs from the "(1) 17rd magazine & (2) 21rd magazines" in SIG's description. The brochure lists "(1) 17 RD + (2) 21 RD MAGAZINES" for the MACH3D.
  • 385F-9-M3D-10: (3) 10rd Steel Mag
  • 385F-9-M3D-MS: manual safety "Yes"
  • 385F-9-M3D-RXSL: sights "ROMEO-X SIG-LOC PRO with XRAY3 Day/Night Sights"

An earlier capture from September 27, 2026 and our saved copy from October 28 also showed 385F-9-M3D-MS-10 (Massachusetts) and 385F-9-M3D-CA (California). Neither appears in the October 30 table.

MACH3D size and holsters

SIG lists the MACH3D at 7.87 in long and 1.45 in wide, with a barrel of 3.9 in in its table and 4" in its description (P385-MACH3D page (table in page code; see note above)). SIG lists the Carry, with a 4 in barrel, at 7.22 in long and 1.32 in wide (P385-Carry page), and the Comp, with a 4 in barrel, at 7.9 in long and 1.32 in wide (P385-Comp page). By our arithmetic, the MACH3D is 0.65 in longer and 0.13 in wider than the Carry.

P385-Comp vs P385-MACH3D

  • P385-Comp: "integrally compensated" slide; SIG says "the integrated compensator helps reduce muzzle rise and improve sight recovery for greater control during rapid fire"; barrel 4 in; overall length 7.9 in; width 1.32 in; 29.12 oz w/Magazine (P385-Comp page)
  • P385-MACH3D: MACH3D compensator; barrel 3.9 in in SIG's table, 4" in its description; overall length 7.87 in; width 1.45 in; 30.56 oz w/Magazine (P385-MACH3D page (table in page code; see note above)). The brochure says the MACH3D compensator reduces muzzle rise "by more than 30%." The press release says "20 percent or more, depending on the specific P385 model."

How the P385 lines differ

  • Shortest, narrowest and lightest listed: SIG's tables list the Compact with the shortest overall length (6.6 in), narrowest width (1.1 in) and lowest listed weight (22 oz; SIG doesn't say whether that includes a magazine, while the other lines' weights are "w/Magazine") (P385-Compact page (table in page code; see note above)). Its table conflicts with SIG's own description; see the Compact section above.
  • Shortest with no table/description conflict: the Carry, at 7.22 in overall with a 4 in barrel (P385-Carry page).
  • Longest barrel and sight radius: the Full, at 4.7 in and 6.55 in (P385-Full page).
  • Compensated: the Comp and the MACH3D. See the comparison above.
  • Versions: SIG's tables list -MS, -10 and -RXSL rows for all five lines. On the Compact, though, the -MS row lists manual safety "No," the -10 row lists (2) 17rd magazines, and the -RXSL row lists electro-optic installed "No" (P385-Compact page (table in page code; see note above)). The factory optics SIG names are "ROMEO-X SIG-LOC PRO" on the Carry and MACH3D (Carry, MACH3D (table in page code; see note above)) and "ROMEO-X SIG-LOC COMPACT | CIRCLE DOT" on the Full (Full). The Comp's red-dot row doesn't name its optic (Comp). The MACH3D model list also names an "XRAY5 Optic installed" version with no SKU row (MACH3D). State laws vary; see our state law guides.

When will the P385 be available?

As of October 31, 2026, every P385 product page reads "COMING SOON!" (Carry, Full, Comp, Compact, MACH3D). SIG's press release says the P385 "will be available in stores this fall and early winter" (press release). For how transfers work, see how an FFL transfer works. You can follow SIG news on our SIG SAUER page.

Frequently asked questions

How many P385 models are there? SIG lists five lines: MACH3D, COMP, FULL, CARRY and COMPACT (press release). Each line's spec table lists several versions, such as 10-round, manual safety, Coyote and red-dot versions. The Compact and MACH3D tables are in page code; see note above.

What caliber is the P385? Every row in SIG's P385 spec tables lists 9mm Luger (Carry, Full, Comp, Compact (table in page code; see note above), MACH3D (table in page code; see note above)).

Is the P385 out yet? No. As of October 31, 2026, every P385 page reads "COMING SOON!" SIG's press release says "available in stores this fall and early winter" (press release).

Is the P385 optic-ready? SIG's tables list optic ready "Yes" with an RX footprint of SIG-LOC PRO for every line (Carry, Full, Comp, Compact (table in page code; see note above), MACH3D (table in page code; see note above)). Factory red-dot (-RXSL) versions are listed for each line, with the conflicts noted above.

Does the P385 have a manual safety? SIG's manual says "SIG SAUER OFFERS THE P385 WITH AND WITHOUT A MANUAL SAFETY" (operator's manual). The -MS rows list manual safety "Yes" on the Carry, Full, Comp and MACH3D tables, but the Compact's -MS row lists "No" (Carry, Full, Comp, Compact (table in page code; see note above), MACH3D (table in page code; see note above)).

Will a P385-Carry holster fit the Comp or MACH3D? SIG hasn't said whether holsters fit across P385 lines. Its operator's manual says to carry the pistol "in a holster specifically designed for that pistol" and that "it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure the holster is compatible with their specific pistol and any installed accessories" (operator's manual). SIG lists the Carry at 7.22 in long and 1.32 in wide, the Comp at 7.9 in and 1.32 in, and the MACH3D at 7.87 in and 1.45 in (Carry, Comp, MACH3D (table in page code; see note above)).

What's the difference between the P385-Comp and P385-MACH3D? The Comp has an "integrally compensated" slide (P385-Comp page). The MACH3D uses SIG's MACH3D compensator (P385-MACH3D page). SIG lists the MACH3D as 1.45 in wide against the Comp's 1.32 in, and 30.56 oz w/Magazine against 29.12 oz w/Magazine (MACH3D table in page code; see note above).

What are the P385-Compact's specs? SIG's spec table (in page code; see note above) lists 3.7 in barrel, 6.6 in overall length, 1.1 in width, 5.2 in height, 22 oz and (2) 17rd Steel Mag. SIG's description says "4" precision barrel" and "(2) 15rd magazines" (P385-Compact page). See the full list of conflicts above.

The bottom line

SIG lists five P385 lines (press release); SIG's spec tables list every version as 9mm Luger and optic-ready with a SIG-LOC PRO footprint (Carry, Full, Comp, Compact (table in page code; see note above), MACH3D (table in page code; see note above)). Two are compensated: the Comp has an "integrally compensated" slide, and the MACH3D uses SIG's MACH3D compensator (Comp; MACH3D). SIG's Compact and MACH3D pages still contradict themselves on several figures, and SIG's muzzle-rise claims vary by source. We'll update this note as SIG corrects its pages.
